America's First Seametery

In 2011 John Vincent Scalia purchased the Romer Shoal Lighthouse at the mouth of the New York Harbor, from the United States General Services Administration. Standing on land one evening and observing the light from the Lighthouse shining upon the moonlit harbor, a thought came to him. Families who cremate their loved ones often desire to spread the cremains at Sea, but  realize that they no longer know the location.

Mr. Scalia knew that the Environmental Protection Administration rules state that, cremains must be scattered 3 miles from any land mass. Using the Lighthouse, which was even with the land masses of New York & New Jersey, he created the first Seametery in the United States, a name which he composed and trademarked. The Light on the Lighthouse has now become the beacon landmark of Eternal Light for the first Seametery, which is located 3 miles directly due east of the Romer Shoal Lighthouse. This Seametery can also be easily located by longitude and latitude on a nautical map.
